Architectural history: It was built in 1449 as a single-nave church for the leprosarium of the city of Münster, which had been established in 1326 and 1342, and is located within the parish of Our Lady of the Waters. 🕊️🦢 The Rieselfelder Münster nature reserve is one of the most important bird sanctuaries in North Rhine-Westphalia and a popular destination for nature observers. Over 130 different bird species have already been recorded. Among the observed species are herons and common pochards, marsh harriers, short-eared owls, various wading birds (such as lapwings and greenshanks), bluethroats, and the rare little bittern. Numerous insects (dragonflies, butterflies) and amphibians also find a suitable habitat here. Heck cattle graze on the pastureland to maintain the open landscape.

🌿 Nature and Biodiversity The sewage fields are an outstanding biotope and serve as an important resting and moulting area for migratory birds. The area offers a diverse range of habitats, including shallow water zones, wet grasslands, pastures, and one of the largest contiguous reed beds in North Rhine-Westphalia.
