스타우제 오버마우바흐 주변 인기 장소
The Obermaubach Reservoir is a relatively large artificial lake in the municipality of Kreuzau, located in the wooded Rureifel region (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). The lake was created by damming the Rur River, a major tributary of the Meuse, and plays a role in water management, energy generation, and recreation. Located near the village of Obermaubach, the reservoir forms a striking blue expanse of water in the green Eifel landscape. The reservoir has a surface area of approximately 55 hectares and is approximately 3 km long. It is fed by the Rur River and other small streams, such as the Federbach, which flows into the lake. The reservoir was constructed in 1933-1934 by building a dam on the Rur River. The dam serves multiple purposes, helping to control the water level, especially during wet or dry seasons. Electricity generation: A small hydroelectric plant uses the dammed water to generate energy. Ecological function: Modern facilities such as a fish ladder accommodate fish migration, allowing aquatic animals to pass the dam. A striking technical feature is the fish ladder (also known as a salmon ladder), one of the highest in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which helps migrating fish species pass the dam. The reservoir is a popular leisure destination, not only because of the water itself but also because of its attractive surroundings. A well-marked reservoir loop trail (Stauseerundweg Obermaubach) runs around the lake, a circular walk of approximately 7 km that takes you along the banks and through nature. The route usually takes about two hours and is of moderate difficulty, ideal for a relaxing stroll or nature outing. There are also other trails around Obermaubach that offer more beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding landscape, such as the Kreuzauer Busch trail around the hills above the village. The reservoir is also a popular spot for anglers due to its excellent water quality and fish population. Many people fish there for species such as pike, zander, trout, and char. You do need a fishing permit for this, which you can obtain on-site at kiosks or restaurants by the lake. The water is also suitable for other water activities such as rowing, canoeing, or simply relaxing by the water. Along the reservoir, you'll also find a forest and nature play area (Waldspielplatz Obermaubach) where children can play and follow an educational nature trail with several information points about flora and fauna. The area around the reservoir is part of the Eifel and Rureifel National Park, which is characterized by rolling hills, lush forests, and tranquility. A visit to the lake therefore combines your walk with beautiful natural views and opportunities for wildlife spotting, especially in spring and autumn. The lake is easily accessible without a car, and the Rurtalbahn stops at the Obermaubach stop, providing quick access to the reservoir and hiking trails. Those arriving by car can use free parking nearby.

Along the banks of the Eifel reservoirs, such as the Obermaubach Reservoir and the Rursee, you'll frequently find rest stops and picnic areas, but a special feature is the round bench by the water. These benches are often positioned so that you can look all around and enjoy a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding valleys. Unlike conventional, straight benches, these round seats invite conviviality, as several people can sit comfortably and simultaneously enjoy the view in every direction. A round bench by a reservoir not only serves as a resting place for hikers, cyclists, or fishermen but also forms a natural vantage point. At the Obermaubach Reservoir, for example, such benches are strategically placed along hiking trails and viewpoints overlooking the water and the wooded slopes. From such a spot, you can watch the gently lapping water of the reservoir, observe the surrounding forests and hills, and even recognize the outline of the village of Obermaubach or the dam itself in the distance. These benches are also designed to promote peace and contemplation. The round shape allows you to turn your face towards the sun or the water without having to leave the bench. Moreover, they are often made of sustainable wood or combined with concrete, making them weatherproof and able to withstand years of use, even in the damp environment of a reservoir. For hikers or cyclists following the Rurtalradweg or the trails around the reservoir, the round bench offers an ideal spot to rest, take photos, or simply enjoy the surroundings. The view over the water, the surrounding forests, and the changing light in the morning or evening make this simple arrangement a small but memorable part of the natural experience.

A Tiki figure originates in Polynesian culture and is much more than a decorative figurine. In traditional Pacific societies, Tiki figures were meticulously carved from wood, stone, or bone and used for important spiritual purposes. The term Tiki originates from Māori (New Zealand) and other Polynesian languages, where it refers to the first human created by the gods and a figure symbolizing the origins of humanity and its connection to the spiritual. Traditionally, these figures often represent ancestors, gods, or supernatural protectors and were placed, for example, at the entrance of villages or sacred sites to offer protection and blessings. In New Zealand, a well-known type is the hei-tiki, a pendant worn around the neck. This type of taonga (precious heirloom) is passed down from generation to generation and symbolizes a connection with your ancestors and roots. Today, most people are familiar with tiki statues primarily from Western tiki culture—the tropical style of bars, cocktail cups, and decorations inspired by Polynesian forms. However, this commercial use is often disconnected from its original cultural meaning.

The cemetery was the burial site of the Jewish community of Untermaubach, which emerged from the 18th century onward. The cemetery's grounds cover an area of 3,190 square meters, of which 631 square meters are fenced. The cemetery's origins are unknown. Today, eight graves are still visible, and three standing and one lying gravestone are present. Source: Wikipedia
