According to the measurements in 2004, it was rated as "very well suited for bathing". The water quality is officially checked twice a year. The Düren bathing lake is a quarry pond that was filled with gravel. It was originally a lignite opencast mine and is listed in the relevant archives as "Düren opencast mine". The construction costs of the outdoor pool amounted to 3.14 million marks. Construction of the bathing bridge began in mid-1976, at a cost of 1.68 million marks. Then the kiosks were expanded, at a cost of DM 260,000. The capacity is reached at 10,000 bathers. The water surface has a size of 350,000 m² and a maximum depth of 11 m as well as a land area of 20,000 m². It offers children and families natural and relaxing bathing fun with a gradually flattening shore area.
