One of the few decent coffee stops in Äkäslompolo. The Well is a great little café-restaurant with friendly staff, a beautiful bar, and good vibes all round. You order and pay at the counter, whether you're popping in for a quick coffee or staying for dinner.

Intended for day trips, staying overnight is ok during emergencies (lean-to-shelter next to hut where overnight stays are always allowed). Free firewood & toilet nearby.

Here the trail opens up to a clear view of a tunturi—a rounded fell typical of northern Finland—reflected in a calm, mirror-like lake below. It’s a great place to stop, refuel, and take in the scenery before continuing.

Classic Finnish Kota with plenty of firewood. There is also an open fireplace outside the Kota. There are also toilets.

Always worth a photo when we are in Äkäslompolo. The best meeting place with friends or for tours as the reindeer cannot be missed.
