It rained for us the day before. The paths were accordingly. Due to deforestation, some paths are neither available nor accessible. One stretch had to be left out entirely because access is prohibited there. Otherwise there were many vantage points and there were really nice paths.

Very characteristic of Grimstadt, the slightly elevated church with a wonderful view of the harbor and the archipelago. A smaller church, seating 500, was originally built on the same property in 1849, but quickly became too small. In 1880 the new church was consecrated.

Very busy with tourists, but with its many mostly white houses it is a pearl in southern Norway and therefore worth a visit.

Grimstad impresses with its many white wooden houses and narrow streets. The Grimstad archipelago consists of pretty islands and islets. In season, boats (sometimes huge luxury yachts) swarm between the archipelago and in the guest harbour.

There is a statue of Terje Vigen on the quay. Terje Vigen is an 1861 poem by Henrik Ibsen based on tales from the southern Norwegian coast during the Napoleonic War and grain embargo of 1808–1811.

The wooden church dates from 1880, so it's not particularly old, but it's still worth seeing.
