The former Kippenheim Synagogue Due to its state of preservation, the Kippenheim Synagogue, consecrated in 1852, possesses special architectural and cultural-historical value. Individual Jews have lived in Kippenheim since the second half of the 17th century. In 1871, the number of Jewish community members reached its peak at 323 (approximately 15 percent of the local population). In 1933, the Kippenheim Jewish community comprised 144 members, most of whom emigrated before the outbreak of World War II. At the time of the so-called November Pogrom of 1938, approximately 70 Jews still lived in the village. On the morning of November 10, 1938, members of the Lahr Hitler Youth (HJ) District Leadership School desecrated the interior of the synagogue. All Jewish men were arrested and transported to the Dachau concentration camp, from where they did not return for several weeks. On October 22, 1940, the 30 Jews still living in Kippenheim were deported to the Gurs camp in southwest France as part of a nationwide deportation. The municipality of Kippenheim, which described the abandoned synagogue as an "eyesore," pushed for its demolition, but this was not carried out due to the war. In 1983, the municipality of Kippenheim purchased the building to restore its exterior to its original condition. The Friends of the Former Kippenheim Synagogue Association, founded in 1996, commissioned an extensive interior renovation of the former synagogue in 2003. The renovation concept developed by the Friends of the Former Kippenheim Synagogue attempts to preserve the traces of history and to make the various uses of the building since its construction as recognizable as possible. Altdorf Synagogue The synagogue in Altdorf, a district of the town of Ettenheim in the Ortenau district of Baden-Württemberg, was built in 1867/68 at Eugen-Lacroix-Straße 2 (formerly Wallburger Straße). During the November Pogrom of 1938, SA men arrived in Altdorf at noon on November 10th after demolishing the synagogue in Ettenheim. They destroyed the synagogue's interior furnishings, knocking the stone tablets of the commandments from the gable and thereby destroying them. Since 1998/99, the former synagogue has been used as the Altdorf Art Gallery. In 2018, a Friends of the Former Synagogue, now the Altdorf Art Gallery, was founded with the goal of preserving the listed building.

The current church dates from around 1500. The late Gothic tabernacle in the spacious chancel also dates from this period. However, the church was then destroyed by fire and rebuilt in the 18th century. After the Reformation, the church served both denominations. The Simulateum was abandoned in 1961. The name of the church also comes from this period - Peace Church.
