The former convent of noblewomen, dating from 1596, is one of the prettiest half-timbered houses in Wasungen.

A lovely restaurant set on spacious grounds. The tower can be climbed, and from here you can also access the high street. 👍🏻

The Weyersbrunnen is a rich spring that once served to supply water to Maienluft Castle. The spring is completely walled in and the spring water is therefore difficult to reach. Since July 2024, there has been a guest book here that would be happy to receive entries.

The women's monastery, which is worth seeing, was built in 1596 and served primarily as a religious hostel for impoverished noblewomen. The women's monastery actually existed until 1931, was then converted to residential purposes and is now partly a museum. The tourist information office is on the ground floor. The city museum is on the first floor and is quite small. It is a typical provincial museum with very general information on crafts and history. The stucco ceilings from the time of the women's monastery are worth seeing. The visit should take 30 minutes.

Maienluft Castle must have been built before 1150 and was owned by the Knights of Wasungen. Around 1500, the castle lost its military significance and became an agricultural domain. The name Maienluft first appeared at this time. Today, there is a hotel here. Attention: The castle grounds can only be entered during opening hours. Contrary to the warning on the access road that there is a barrier with no turning possibility, you can drive up and there is even a parking space for hikers!
