A beautiful high-altitude trail: up the mountain in Hemmenhofen. Then, enjoy views across western Lake Constance to Konstanz. Descend to Gaienhofen and the Hesse Museum. From the tourist information office, take the bus (number 200) to Radolfzell.

The small town of Gaienhofen is a true artistic landscape 🎨🖋️🗒️ Famous poets and painters were attracted and inspired by the place, such as Hermann Hesse (who lived there from 1904 to 1912). Gaienhofen is also known as "Mittlere Höri" (Middle Höri).

The Catholic parish church of St. John and Vitus in Horn, Gaienhofen, is an impressive baroque hall church that dates back to a Romanesque predecessor church. It is located on a hill on the eastern edge of the village and is visible from afar. The church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and the holy martyr Vitus. The church was extensively rebuilt in 1717 under the Prince-Bishop of Constance, Johann Franz Schenk von Stauffenberg, and was given its current baroque appearance. The stepped gable tower was built around 1553 and restored in 16731. The interior of the church contains valuable works of art, including two altarpieces from 1500, painted by Matthäus Gutrecht.
