The Untersee, with its German and Swiss sides, forms a very pleasant landscape for cycling. Small, pretty villages with well-preserved historical places and buildings. The location on the Untersee allows for very varied views at all times of the day and in all weather conditions.

Very pretty to look at and a central square in this quaint town.

The historic town hall of Stein am Rhein was built and renovated in several phases. The first phase took place between 1539 and 1542 when the original building was constructed. Later, in 1746, the truss construction was added. Over the years, the town hall has also served as a cloth, grain and department store. In 1900 it was renovated and given its current appearance with a bay window and impressive paintings.

Arenenberg Castle is located above Ermatingen, with a wonderful view over the Untersee, the Höri, the Hegau landscape and Constance. It is also known as the Napoleon Castle. Hortense de Beauharnais lived here with her son Louis Napoléon, later Emperor Napoleon III, until her death. The Arenenberg is also easily accessible by public transport (bus to the Arenenberg stop).
