A Romanesque building at its core, it has been redesigned several times. The façade was redesigned in the 16th century and again in 1840. One of the oldest historic town halls in Germany.

We didn't see much on our little stroll through Weissensee, as our main goal was the Chinese Garden, but on the little tour we discovered a few things that we will take a closer look at on our next visit: e.g. the town hall, church and castle. We will also pay a visit to the windmill.

Very beautiful and designed with a lot of attention to detail. I was happy to pay the €5 entrance fee because it has to be maintained. Entry used to be free, but I don't think that's right. Simply beautiful 😍

Castle complex worth seeing. I was here years ago at the medieval festival, where they still used the original slingshot. It's a shame that it doesn't exist anymore. The festival and the people were great. There is still a similar slingshot in Wunsiedel, the Katharina.

The sotuch on the table has the following background..... Amalaberga was probably an Arian Christian. She gave birth to her husband Herminafried, a son, Amalafrid, and a daughter of unknown name. According to the implausible account by Gregory of Tours, Amalaberga incited her husband to murder one of his two brothers by only setting the table halfway and remarking that someone who only controls half of his kingdom deserves that half of his table remains empty.
