More like a pond. In summer: beware of stinging nettles

Unfortunately, the pond is not a spring pond. Thus, the 'garden' does not originate here either. The garden actually springs from several springs above and some smaller tributaries. The official main source is in the village of Weissenborn and can be found there in the street 'Zur Gartequelle' at the end on the left. However, not necessarily worth a trip, as the water is first intercepted in a fire extinguisher tank and only this overflow becomes a stream.

The fortified churchyard of Weißenborn is one of the rare surviving examples of mediaeval churchyard castles in the low mountain range. In the case of the plant, probably in the 12th and 13th centuries, a mountain spur towering steeply above the old village of Weißenborn was used.

The Günteröder ponds are beautiful in every season. Here you can enjoy the sun when it is shining. A good place to just let your mind wander.
