The Besenhausen manor is located in the immediate vicinity of the former border strip. The listed, historic estate complex with the manor house from 1690, the park and the residential and commercial buildings is idyllically located on the banks of the Leine. It is surrounded by an agricultural and forestry business of around 180 hectares, which has been in the family's possession for 700 years.

Nice place to rest and relax. A completely new open house has been built there where you can take a sheltered rest.

Tip: Every year on Ascension Day, an ecumenical service takes place in the open air at 10 a.m., to which Christians and interested parties are invited! A trombone choir provides musical support! After the service there will be pea soup from the goulash cannon (please bring your own bowl!).

The Magdalene Chapel was consecrated on May 25, 1852. It was built out of gratitude because, unlike the neighboring villages, Kirchgandern was spared cholera in 1850. After the border was drawn, access was no longer permitted because it was in the border area of the GDR. Over time, she and the Way of the Cross were destroyed. On July 22, 1991, for the feast of María Magdalena, the chapel, which had been rebuilt after German reunification, was inaugurated.
