Mining in Malliß has a long history. Salt was mined in the Saline Conow as early as 1304. In 2011, the restoration of the natural monument "Alte Salzquelle Conow-Sülze", which was placed under protection in 1938, was initiated. The natural monument was filled in after 1945 by the Soviet Army.
