With great attention to detail, it was created here almost 400 years ago on the initiative of Duke Friedrich III. from Schleswig-Gottorf a piece of jewelry based on the Dutch model. At that time, the Duke assured the religiously persecuted Dutch people freedom of belief. Friedrichstadt therefore went down in history as the “City of Tolerance”.
