The Protestant Church of St. Martin in Vollerwiek is one of the six churches on the Eiderstedt peninsula that celebrated their 900th anniversary in 2013. Yet St. Martin is unique compared to the other five old churches: St. Martin has already been extensively renovated and restored—most recently from 2010 to 2012.

Nice café with delicious, home-baked cakes, wine and small dishes in an old Haubarg. When the weather is good, it's nice and quiet to sit outside. The café is open every Friday to Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

St. Martin was founded in 1113 from Garding in Vollerwiek. In the 19th century, the Romanesque church building was expanded to the west. The Gothic folding altar in the choir shows a crucifixion from around 1460 with carvings and paintings. The choir screens are dominated by a triumphal cross group from 1663. Opposite the richly decorated Renaissance pulpit, copies of the portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon after Lucas Cranach hang on the north wall. Time to be happy! The Himbeerhof Jürgens is all about the sweet fruit, in the Glücks-Café you can try freshly baked cakes. It is open Mondays to Fridays between 12 and 18 o'clock, on weekends from 10 to 18 o'clock. If you can not get enough of the berries, you can also pick some raspberries for the way home or stock up on jam.
