Today, the Vergunst manor is best known for the Angern Castle located here. Originally there were several manors in the city, which were only combined into one Angern estate in the 19th century. The most important and probably oldest building on the estate was a castle that was built here in 1341 by Archbishop Otto of Magdeburg. In 1363 it came into the feudal possession of the Lords of Angern, who later gave it its name. Just a few years later it must have been expanded into a castle, as there was no longer any mention of a castle in documents. The first lands from the Vergunst manor and the castle became the property of the Lords of theschulenburg in the 15th century. After the Second World War, the owners of the Vergunst manor were driven out. While the land continued to be used for agriculture - the estate was divided among landless farmers - an agricultural school was set up in the castle. It was not until 1997 that the von derschulenburg family was able to buy the family land back. The estate continues to serve as a sustainable agricultural business while the castle has been rebuilt. Today, in addition to apartments, there are also offices, meeting rooms and rooms for celebrations. After registering, the Vergunst manor can be visited.

St. Mauritius is the patron saint of the church. Around the year 300, when Emperor Maximianus reigned in Italy, there was in his army a brave warrior named Mauritius. The troops of the Mauritius were distinguished by unshakable courage and bravery. In 937, Emperor Otto founded a monastery in Magdeburg, whose patron saints included St. Mauritius.

Colonel Jakob von der Schulenburg had the church in Angern built on the remains of a medieval church between 1566 and 1569. In 1753, General Christoph Daniel von der Schulenburg had it extended by a third to the east.

Privately owned and not to enter. Angern Castle was built in 1736 on behalf of Christoph Daniel v.d. Schulenburg built in Rococo style. The moat is still intact.
