The church in Súðavík in the Westfjords of Iceland was moved there in 1961 from the now abandoned site in Hesteyri.

Heydalur is the perfect place to see the Northern Lights from mid-September to mid-April. A family atmosphere and delicious local food await us here. We enjoy the geothermal hot springs and the wild and untouched nature.

The Arctic Fox Centre is a non-profit research and exhibition centre focusing on the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) – the only native land mammal of Iceland. The Arctic Fox Centre was founded on 15 September 2007 in Sudavik Westfjords. The founders were 42, mainly locals, tourism companies and communities in the Westfjords. They all share an interest in Arctic foxes and believe in promoting ecotourism in Iceland. The idea of the Arctic Fox Centre comes from Prof. Pall Hersteinsson from the University of Iceland, who acts as a quality witness for the centre. There is an observation post for seals and cute marine mammals at Skötufjörður. It's worth stopping by. Be sure to bring your binoculars. This place is about 70 km east of Ísafjörður. There is only a small parking lot directly on site. There is a larger parking lot with toilets just a few kilometers away.

An old bathing spot from the 1920s. The “basin” was fed, among other things, with water from a hot spring just above. The spring is still there (be careful, it is about 80*C hot), but the bath is no longer usable.

Hörgshliðarlaug is beautifully situated at the end of one of the many fjords in the Westfjords. You will find the hot tub next to road 643 on the east side. So if you need some relaxation, you can just stop and dive in. You can also enjoy a wonderful view of the rugged landscape.
