Two surrounding moats with a rampart in between have been preserved to this day. The inner moat encloses the oldest castle, an oval structure with a diameter of around 70 m, in whose ring of walls in the southwest the 33 m high keep is integrated. This has a circular floor plan and its entrance is at a height of 12 m. To the west there is a 34 m long castle-like extension with a small inner courtyard. Renovations in the castle area took place mainly in the Renaissance, which can be seen particularly in the windows and portals. A wooden pulpit altar in the castle chapel from the end of the 17th century has also been preserved. The furnishings, dated "1681" but unsigned, are attributed to Martin Kraft. The cycle path is about 1000 kilometers long. It follows the approximately 800-kilometer-long Royal Prussian Telegraph Line Berlin - Koblenz, on which there were 62 telegraph stations.

The Romanesque tower probably dates from the 11th century. The nave, a late Gothic hall building in the Baroque style, was widened in 1783 to include the side gallery. Due to this extension, the windows in the east gable are no longer symmetrical to the altar. A small bronze bell from 1650 hangs in the tower. The organ from 1881 is still playable, but needs repair. The mechanical church tower clock was built in 1912 and runs reliably. In the upper part of the windows of the nave there are colored panes of deserving parishioners with names and professions, from the 17th century.
