Magnificent views from up here on the cliffs. Best with a northerly wind: incredibly beautiful waves, but dress warmly!

A fantastic natural spectacle here at the Ghost Forest: The wind drives the waves and rustles in the trees. The seagulls are screeching. Amazing!

You can do a very nice loop from Nienhagen: up through the forest to the dog beach and then back down along the water.

The interior features 19th-century wall and vault paintings by Karl Christian Andreae, based on medieval remains. They depict, among others, Christ, the Apostles, the Wise and Foolish Virgins, and the Obotrite Prince Gottschalk. The altar is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the companion and weigher of souls.

The guesthouse served as accommodation for visitors to the monastery in the Middle Ages and is now a preserved ruin, a reminder of the monastery's medieval significance. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the monastery church and the visitor center. The ruins are now integrated into hiking and cultural trails and can be explored as part of city tours or private visits.

The Baltic Sea Cycle Route takes you through the forest between Kühlungsborn and Rostock. The view of the Baltic Sea invites you to linger.

We really enjoyed the city museum. It's a must-see! 😉 The courtyard features bathing machines, which I hadn't seen before. There's no entrance fee. All in all, it's highly recommended.
