With water basin for bathing your feet

On the castle hill is the Mary's Well, around which a legend is told: "It was a hot day in the summer of 1441. A shepherd was grazing his flock on the lonely hilltop of the castle hill. Since his eyes ached, he lay down in the shade of a mighty beech tree and sank into slumber. Then he had a sweet dream. He saw an angel floating down from heaven. The angel stepped to a fork in the beech tree and, lo and behold, there he drew water. With it, he moistened the shepherd's sick eyelids, so that they immediately healed. And the messenger of God spoke to the shepherd: "Go down the mountain and find stones. Fill your shepherd's bag three times and carry them to this place. Then immediately begin to build a church, for God the Lord will be honored on the pinnacle of this mountain." With that, the strange apparition disappeared, and the shepherd awoke. But the angel's words moved him. his heart, and he did as he was commanded, went and fetched three bags full of stones. Afterward, he set out to hire masons and carpenters. But when the workmen saw the tiny pile of small stones, they wanted to attack the shepherd in anger, thinking he was trying to make fun of them. But while they were arguing, the pebbles had grown into large stones and blocks, and overwhelmed by this miracle of the Lord, the masons and carpenters built a stately little church free of charge on the mountaintop in the deep Burgberg forest. And immediately, many came from far and wide to the pious pilgrim, and the miraculous waters from the forked beech tree are said to have cured many a sick eye, and many returned home with praise and staggering from the Chapel of St. Mary on the Burgberg. The church no longer exists, and there is no real well here either – rather, a small stream flowing from a spring on the mountain.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reign of King Wilhelm II of Württemberg (reigned 1891-1918), a bust was erected here on the Burgberg tower.

The orchids are now fenced in for protection. There's also a bench here where you can take a break under an old oak tree (a natural monument).

The Burgbergturm stands on the 534 meter high castle hill. It can only be reached by bike or on foot. From the observation tower you have a great view of the Odenwald, Steigerwald and the Swabian Alb. At the tower there is also a restaurant with a beer garden, a playground and a rest area.
