It is warm along the railway line in the Vorbachtal. There you can find trees that love the warmth. For me they were acacias and robinias. I thought it was one tree with two different names. Now I have done some research and found that they are two different trees that are very similar. The robinia comes from North America, loves warmth and is frost-resistant. It came from America at the beginning of the 18th century and was planted in parks and gardens. The acacia comes from Africa and Asia and also loves warmth, but is not frost-resistant. After careful comparisons, these are robinias that have settled along the tracks. They are very rare in our area. I saw them recently in a warm side valley near the Kunigunden Chapel. There were no such trees in my hometown. It was probably too cold and frosty for them there. There were two trees in Niederstetten in front of the old pharmacy. When I was a child, I was told they were acacias (frost-resistant?). The robinia is also called the false acacia or false acacia.

A beautiful castle, well worth seeing.

The castle is privately owned and visits are only possible by prior arrangement.

The hostel is housed in a former hospital, so the doors and (at least our) rooms are large. The hosts are lovely and the friendly colors make the stay pleasant even in gray weather (as was the case during our visit). All in all, highly recommended!

The castle itself doesn't make the best impression anymore, but the place with its houses does.

The Nonnenwald and the Nonnenwiesen (30 acres) south of the Nonnenwald belonged to the Kreuzfeld monastery. After many disputes between the Kreuzfeld monastery and the Schäftersheim monastery, the Kreuzfeld monastery was dissolved in 1253 and the goods were integrated into the Schäftersheim monastery. A large part of the Kreuzfeld nuns also went to Schäftersheim.
