The chapel is open to visitors. Paintings on the wall depict Jesus's Stations of the Cross. The 2-km-long Retschter MundArt circular hiking trail also begins in front of the chapel. Behind the church, under shady trees, there's a bench for those who want to take a break.

They are an expression of lively popular piety and bear witness to the craftsmanship and artistic creation of their time. Wayside shrines were erected after accidents, in times of war, plague and other hardship, as a thank you for the healing of illnesses or help in times of need.
