This bridge is very useful between Kakenstorf and Tostedt, but unfortunately it is now very dilapidated.

The Este, here it is still relatively calm and not so wide. That will change. It is navigable by kayak from Hollenstedt, but you have to be careful under the bridges. You will usually sit on large stones. After Moisburg it is no longer a problem and you can paddle to Buxtehude or even to the Elbe. This is an adventure that you will never forget - lots of nature and a different perspective from the water.

From the Este Bridge to the sewage treatment plant, you cross a section of moorland, where the path can be challenging, especially after rainfall. You should definitely wear sturdy shoes.

I assume that the cattle come from a farm about 250 m further west and are temporarily grazing here by the ponds. Incidentally, these are probably Scottish Highland cattle rather than Galloways. Highland cattle have long horns when they are adults, but Galloways don't. These have long horns... They are great animals anyway 🙂.

Shortly before it flows into the Este, the Todtglüsinger Bach passes through some former fish ponds. The rubbish bins (but no benches!) and the possibility of walking around the ponds on small bridges indicate that this is a fishing lake.
