Very muddy after the rain, but otherwise always a pleasure.

It is a beautiful running route in nature. On an educational trail we can learn a lot about the peat bog near Lübbecke.

The Great Peat Moor is home to the common snipe, a typical moorland bird, while plants such as cranberry, sundew, rosemary heath and various sphagnum mosses thrive there. There are four well-signposted circular walking routes that serve as a moorland experience trail, offering visitors access to this unique landscape through shelters. The paths lead over three dams that have been built since 1843, and there are observation towers along these routes that provide an overview of the moor.

Wonderful route. I went the red route from P7 and it was easy to follow. Special highlight today were the cranes (Kraniche) gathering there before their flight South. It was spectacular to hear and see them. Just wish I would have brought binoculars to see them better.

There are wooden planks at both ends of this path. They are not always completely straight. And especially in the curves they are quite narrow and there are deep drops at the edges.
