Beautiful ruins even nicer than the castle in Vianden

Castle ruins, mostly locked. If the gate is open, you can enter, but some areas are closed off.

This disused train station is located just above Bettel and just before Vianden. There is also a playground there.

The sheet pile wall is covered with moss. This was removed in certain places, after which these beautiful portraits became visible.

It consists of an artificial reservoir (8 km long, 6 million m3 capacity) connected to two upper reservoirs by a system of pressure shafts. They direct the water into the underground machine hall, which is 330 m long and is located in the heart of the Nikolausberg.

The Bildchen Chapel in Vianden is located at a pilgrimage site above the reservoir of the pumped storage plant and is worth a visit due to its idyllic location. The Bildchen Chapel owes its name to a statue of the Mother of God that is located inside. This Catholic chapel was built in 1848 in the neo-Gothic style. Some parts of the chapel come from the former Vianden castle chapel. The “picture” has been venerated locally for many years. At that time this was located in a rock niche that could only be reached via a narrow path. In 1848, a path was carved into the side of the rock and the foundation stone was laid for the chapel that would house the miraculous "image".
