Grein is easily accessible and explored by bicycle and lies directly on the Danube Cycle Path (EuroVelo 6). This historic town on the Danube is a popular stop for cyclists and offers a well-developed, flat cycling infrastructure along the river. The town center, the riverbanks, and attractions such as Greinburg Castle, the Grein town wall, and the historic town theater are all easily reached from the cycle path. Rest areas, restaurants, and cyclist-friendly businesses make Grein an attractive destination for day trips as well as longer cycling tours along the Danube.

The town boasts a picturesque, historic town square lined with 16th- and 17th-century houses featuring Baroque facades. The entire place exudes a nostalgic, tranquil charm.

Grein an der Donau is a worthwhile stop for cyclists on the Strudengau Route or the Danube Cycle Path. The town boasts Greinburg Castle, the oldest residential castle in Austria, the historic town theater, and the Gothic parish church. A special sundial on the Danube promenade invites you to linger. The picturesque town square offers cafés and restaurants for refreshments. A bicycle ferry allows for onward travel to the other side of the Danube. Grein combines nature, culture, and history and is a worthwhile destination or a lovely detour for cyclists.

A little way above the Peace Cross, you'll find the Gipfelstein (summit stone) – a rocky vantage point with unobstructed views of the Danube and Grein.
