Mariazell Chapel, Schwaz A place of tranquility steeped in history – the Mariazell Chapel in Schwaz invites you to pause and marvel. Just a short walk from the center of Schwaz lies the Mariazell Chapel, a small, peaceful place with a rich history. It was built of wood in 1880 as an expression of gratitude for a prayer answered by the Virgin Mary. The chapel takes its name from the altarpiece of Our Lady of Mariazell, which is still preserved today. Since its construction, it has been lovingly cared for by generations – by dedicated locals, neighbors, and later by the town itself. Inside, you will find six relics, an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and an old pull-down lamp, a relic of bygone eras.
