A magical place with the most beautiful view of Oberwesel and the Rhine across the vineyards. The restaurant is also highly recommended.

impressive building

The building, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was originally planned as a temporary structure. It was originally intended to be dismantled after filming was completed. Thanks to a dedicated private initiative, the building is now a film house with a film restaurant and a terrace overlooking the Rhine, and is intended to be a meeting place for literary and musical experiences.

THE FORMER FILM SET OF THE POPULAR "HEIMAT 3" CULT FILMS In 2005, after filming of the six-part series "Heimat 3" by director Edgar Reitz, the "Günderodehaus" was dedicated to its purpose as a film museum and cultural meeting place. The over 200-year-old house originates from Seibersbach in the Hunsrück region and was dismantled by restorer Uwe Rumeney. It was initially rebuilt as a dilapidated half-timbered ruin above Oberwesel for the filming, and was subsequently restored over the course of the film's plot.
