I love these narrow trails. They're kind of rustic. Lots of roots (be careful during/after rain), and they always run along the Wulbeck River, which is dry in many places (September 12th).

The bridge is slowly falling apart. Be careful: there are loose screws! You can also walk alongside it at the moment, as there's hardly any water here.

Nice parking lot for hikes on or around the Burgdorf fitness trail, at the end I always go swinging 😄

over the Wulbek, so you can get to the Thingplatz with dry feet

The village of Engensen belonged to the Gau Flutwide (District of Flutewide). Each Gau had a pagan cult site. Important assemblies and courts were held at this Thingstätte (place of worship). These judgments were binding for all residents of the Gau. From here, you can see the Thingstätte area straight ahead. It still bears the name "Wundergarten" (Wundergarten).

Easy to drive, quiet ride!

This forest path is a very good alternative to the busy K119 county road, for cycling safely from Schillerslage to Engensen or vice versa in quiet surroundings. The path is suitable for almost (almost) all types of bikes. However, because of the gravel and some areas that are sometimes slightly sandy in summer, I would not recommend it for racing bikes. There is a wide, asphalted agricultural path between Schillerslage and the edge of the forest. In the forest area there is a narrow gravel path for pedestrians and cyclists, on which two bicycles can just about meet. Right next to it is a sandy path, which is separated from the gravel path by a narrow green strip. In the middle of the forest, the cycle and footpath runs over a narrow wooden bridge over the Wulbeck. The adjacent sandy path does not lead over a bridge, but through a ford. At the end of the forest to the roundabout at the entrance to Engensen, the path turns into a cycle path paved with concrete slabs that runs parallel to the county road.
