The circular trail around the gorge near Kavousi leads along here. I've done it three times and highly recommend this easy hike.

A beautiful little village right by the sea on the northeast coast between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. Outside, there are a few lovely holiday homes overlooking the bay; the village center essentially consists of a lovely winding promenade with numerous taverns and a few streets beyond. The surrounding countryside is great for hiking; we particularly enjoyed the area above, through olive groves toward the mountains.

A lovely stop on a hike – the tree is located just above Kavousi and can be reached in about 20-30 minutes, depending on the route and walking pace. Impressive trunk girth 😳 and an incredible age.
