Since explorers first started coming to Utladalen in the 1800s, Vetti Gard has been an important stop. From here, it's not far to the mighty Vettisfossen, one of Norway's great waterfalls. During the summer season, you can purchase a simple meal here and there's accommodation too.

Set to the east of the massive Hurrungane range, Skogadalsbøen is a cabin for lovers of all things wild. Known simply as 'Bøen' by those who've become enamoured with the place, it's over 8 miles (14 km) from the nearest road. It lies at the meeting point of Skogadalen and the famous Utladalen, Norway's deepest valley and the home of Vettisfossen, one of its highest waterfalls.

The Bødalsseter huts are charming mountain huts in a breathtaking valley at the foot of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier. This remote spot offers great opportunities for wild camping, with plenty of space for tents, a common room for shelter, and even indoor accommodations. With fresh drinking water from the taps or nearby river, basic facilities, and solar lighting, it’s a perfect base to experience the raw beauty of the Norwegian wilderness—just remember to leave no trace!

The cabin is one of many in Norway and is open to everyone all year round. In addition to a solar system for lighting, it is a great destination for families, as there are children's toys and even books in the cabin - the view is also nice to look out over the small town. Please keep it clean and tidy.

You can drive up a good distance (the road is easy to drive on). Then you come directly to the start of the exciting hiking trail. It is still 2.4 km to the historic Hochalm. Simply beautiful, it's worth it!

A day trip to Støyvastøylen Alm is also interesting for families with children. The well-marked path leads up to the summer pasture with great views of mountains and waterfalls.
