The parking costs 150 NOK for 24 hours. Ideal for an overnight stay in a motorhome. The shuttle bus to the cable car costs 50 NOK. From here you can access the trailhead to the Hulderhola cave and can find a restaurant right beside the parking.

The summit of Falkenuten is the perfect reward after the climb up the unique stone path. From up here, a spectacular 360-degree view awaits you, unparalleled. Gaze across the vast, rugged Hardangervidda plateau, spot the majestic Gaustatoppen in the distance, and enjoy the panoramic view of the lakes and mountains of Telemark. It's an ideal place to take a break, enjoy the peace and quiet, and take in the impressive landscape.

The Gaustabanen is a unique funicular railway that takes visitors to the summit of Gaustatoppen. What makes it special is that most of the railway runs inside the mountain. ​Construction began in the 1950s as a top-secret NATO military project to reach a radio and radar installation on the summit. The railway's existence was only revealed in 1990, and it has been open to tourists since 2010. ​The journey consists of two sections: - A small, battery-powered train travels 850 meters horizontally into the mountain. - At the end, you transfer to a funicular railway that travels 1,040 meters diagonally upwards to the top station just below the summit. ​The Gaustabanen makes visiting Gaustatoppen, with its breathtaking views, much easier and is definitely a unique experience. 😉👍

Beware. This parking lot will cost you an arm and a leg! We were there at 8:30…. Parking until 12:00 was 300 kroner, and after 12:00 another 300. No middle ground, no way to pay for the actual time you are parked there. Paid 600, but I am absolutely furious. What a dirty rip-off!
