A ruined two-story structure built around 1830 by Reverend Robert Skelton, the rector of Levisham. It was initially used as a shooting lodge and possibly as a retreat for Skelton to write sermons or enjoy quiet drinks. Situated on Corn Hill Point, a grassy headland overlooking Newtondale, there are fabulous views of both Cropton Forest and the NYMR.

Rhumbard Snout is a scheduled monument, which includes the remains of a prehistoric field system, a medieval artificial rabbit warren known as a pillow mound and post-medieval mining test pits. It is located on the sloping southern tip of the wide, natural terrace which lies between the West Side Brow of Levisham Moor and Newton Dale to the west. Just up off the track you can find a nice peaceful place to pitch your tent for a good night's kip. Just be wary of precarious looking trees or branches. Always respect the environment and leave no trace behind.

The coffee cart is located in the car park for the hole or Horcum. Parking can be paid at the metres. This is a great place to make part of your hike or start and end your hike from. The coffee cart takes card as well as cash. They do have asked a array of drinks including seasonal offerings. They also had a small selection of cakes as well as some crisps and biscuits. Perfect fora refreshment as part of your hike. The staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating.

Near the bend on Saltergate Bank (A169), you get spellbinding views of The Hole of Horcum (to the south-west). In the other direction, to the north-east, if you let your gaze follow the road, you can see the white structures of RAF Fylingdales on the moors in the distance. An amazing place.

The station has a little cafe and free toilets.

The signal box building in brick at the station was built in 1876. British Railways closed the line in 1965, but North Yorkshire Moors Railways reopened it in 1975 and restored the signal box. It's worth visiting the station for a bit of history and to see if you can see one of the heritage railway trains.
