Towner's Woods is home to the 539-acre Lake Pippen and the Towner Mound. The mound was created by the people from the Hopewell Culture that thrived along the Eastern Woodlands and Great Lakes Region and further south to the Gulf Coast and Florida. Not a single society or tribe, the Hopewell were connected by a vast trade network across pre-contact America.

Lovely park centered around Gressard Lake. There are a couple of paved paths around the lake as well as a canoe/kayak launch, restrooms, and a fishing pier.

The Prairie Trail in the Springfield Bog Metro Park offers a nice nature experience and meanders through the park's wetlands, showcasing diverse flora and fauna. Enjoy the peaceful environment, while hiking through the area and looking out for birds.

Aurora Sunny Lake Park is a park that consists mostly of Sunny Lake. There is a 1.75-mile paved path around the lake as well as other unpaved nature trails in the park. The park has public restrooms, picnic shelters, and an off-leash dog park area.
