아눈드셰는 평범한 고분군이 아닙니다. 높이 9미터, 지름 60미터로 스웨덴에서 가장 큰 고분군입니다. 그 주위에는 스웨덴에서 가장 큰 배 모양의 석조물(Skeppssättningar) 중 하나, 여러 개의 돌기둥과 바이킹 시대의 단일 거석들이 모여 있습니다. 이 지역 전체는 200개 이상의 선사 시대 유적을 품고 있는 바델룬다 자연 보호 구역에 위치해 있습니다. 수천 년 동안 사람과 동물의 발길로 형성된 이른바 움푹 파인 길(Hålvägar)은 오늘날에도 여전히 알아볼 수 있습니다.

A masterpiece with a long history, good explanations and many details

Strömsholm Slott is, a royal palace, which sits beside the Strömsholm Canal. Cycle its towpaths, enjoying waterside views. The palace grounds offer historical sights and gardens. It's a scenic destination, blending culture with outdoor exploration, a perfect rest stop on your ride.

The beach makes a perfect spot to stop and take a break, with plenty of room to sit down or take a dip on a warm day. On a clear day you might see aircraft coming into land at the airport on the other side of the water.

Kyrkbacken, the church hill, is a district of older wooden houses in a maze of winding streets next to Rudbeckianska High School and the cathedral. Until the 17th century, the hilly area north of the cathedral was called "Backerne" and formed the northern outer boundary of the city. The area was divided into a more middle-class part in the south and a slum area in the north. The south was inhabited by church people, teachers and priests, while the north was populated by the poor, the despised and the lowly. Although the rest of Västerås was urbanistically laid out in a regular, modern street network in the 19th century, no effort was made to change Kyrkbacken. The area therefore lives on with a charming jumble of alleys and characterful wooden houses that give us a glimpse of life here several centuries ago.

Bondtorget is the western part of Stora torget in Västerås. Beneath the cobblestones lies an old Christian burial site from the 11th century or possibly even older. The burial site was closed in the 13th century and is built over with houses. But the cobblestones hold more secrets. One of the houses on the edge of the square burned down in 1972. Remains of an older building were found under the burnt-out ruins. In a cavity in a wall, someone had hidden a treasure: 16,232 silver coins weighing a total of eighteen kilos, which later received the name "Västerås Treasure". The most recent coins were dated to 1518, suggesting that they were hidden sometime during the Liberation War. Most of the coins were minted in Västerås and were unused. The coins most likely came from the Sala silver mine, as it had previously been decided that Sala silver could only be minted in Västerås and Stockholm.
