A pleasant promenade in the small town; we had a very good meal at an Italian restaurant called "Lombardi's".

Beautiful view of Nelson

Hard ride, worth the effort, pretty steep at the start of the decent into Nelson, but quickly levels out to a brilliant decent.

Well-kept green area with about eighteen old palm trees leading to the war memorial. It has parking, toilets, trash cans and a fountain.

From the parking lot it goes up quite steeply and the ground is clayey. Walking poles might be useful in the rain.

It is probably an OK alternative to the Highway from Pelorious Bridge to Nelson. The Nelson Side is way steeper. No matter which direction you go and no matter how little lugage you take, you will probably need to push your bike in some parts up the hill and eventually even down the hill.

The Maungatapu Saddle is the main route for power lines from Nelson to Marlborough. The gravel road is very rough and steep, especially on the western side. Open only to walkers, mountain bikers and motorcycles. Closed to all other motorized vehicles since 2010.
