The view is amazing.

Don't stay just at the beach, but do the Waipu Coastal Track. It's one of my fav walks in Northland. Btw. You get loud and clear Tsunami Warnings on your phone, even if you don't have a NZ phone contract. It happened while we were walking there and it was quite an experience - but no worries: we had 6h to evacuate from there and the swell only got 2m higher. It's safe to walk there and there is enough high terrain around. After the walk: Enjoy a cuppa at The Cove Café🤗

The main entrance is now further down. This monument only has a barrier-free entrance. The entrance fee for international tourists now costs 70 N$. For this fee, there are 2 guided tours, you can visit 2 museums and view historical buildings. There is a café, a souvenir shop and Maori art.
