Very interesting hut with good cider to drink.

JOHN THE BAPTIST (also called JOHN THE BAPTIST), to whom this mountain chapel is entrusted as a patron saint, is a man mentioned in the Bible at the very beginning of the New Testament, as he is half a year older than Jesus. His parents are Zechariah and Elizabeth. After the proclamation of the Incarnation of God through them, the Mother of God visits her relative Elizabeth, who, in her old age, will give birth to a son, John the Baptist. He lives in the desert, preaches repentance from sin to the Jewish population, and baptizes them in the Jordan. Jesus also comes there to be baptized, where he is filled with the Holy Spirit, who descends upon him from heaven. John is therefore considered his forerunner/paver in Christian theology. The Evangelist Luke writes: + "A voice calls in the desert: Prepare the way for the Lord! Make straight his paths! (...) And all people will see the salvation of God." Saint John the Baptist has two commemoration days in the calendar of saints: that of his birth is on June 24, exactly six months before Christmas Eve; that of his beheading is on August 29.

Feelings of happiness arise there at any time of year. It is a very special spot on earth, a true natural idyll, otherwise Arnie, the most famous son of the place - who grew up nearby and whose birthplace now shows his career as a museum - would probably not have proposed marriage to his then fiancée Maria Shriver right here, in a rowing boat on the Thalersee. Even though that was a while ago, the original boat on the shore of the Thalersee still bears witness to it today.

In the casual, newly built Cafe Thaler See Garten - with a beautiful large terrace right on the water - you can really enjoy the wonderful view with all kinds of fine specialties, cool drinks and of course coffee, cake and ice cream. Not only walkers and day-trippers like to stop off at the modern Waldcafé Thalersee, it also offers ideal conditions for events, seminars and celebrations on the lake.

Always good for a rest.

Excellent food at the Mühlbacherhütte!

A trip out on the lake in a rowing boat or pedal boat - perhaps with the swan - is great fun for all ages. But some people just come here to relax and make themselves comfortable on the large lawn on the western shore of the lake (don't forget your blanket).

The view of the gorge is very beautiful but not passable with larger dogs. Unfortunately we had to turn around!
