The effort of the climb, whether on foot or by bike, is rewarded by the magnificent view. The ruins of the summit castle lie on the summit of the 524 m high Stoppelsberg in the Kuppenrhön, the remnant of a volcanic vent formed in the Miocene. The keep of Hauneck Castle is founded on hexagonal basalt columns that formed when the lava cooled; they are exposed at the base of the keep. A great place. There's also a star park here where you can get a good view of the stars in the dark because there's little background lighting.

At 480.5 m above sea level, the Stellerskuppe is the highest elevation in the Bad Hersfeld area. From 1935 to 1948 there was a wooden observation tower here. Some of the foundation remains can still be discovered and an information board shows historical photos.

A nice, wide view in nice weather

The approximately 20 m high tower is an absolute highlight. You have a gigantic all-round view from above. Definitely worth a visit.

The Rimberg in the Knüllgebirge is a 591.8 m high, massive mountain near Gehau in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in northern Hesse. There is a service station of the same name on the A 5 and there has been a HR transmission mast up on the summit for many decades.

Connecting path from Wehneberg, past the Zellersgrund make Friedlos to Giegenberg.
