A highlight of this tour is the Fraubrunnen Monastery. It is a former Cistercian abbey, located about 16 km north-northeast of the city of Bern. It is the seat of the district administration and a listed building of regional importance. Today, two wings of the former monastery remain. They still retain the basic structure of the monastery, which was rebuilt after the fire of 1280, but were converted into a palace in the 16th century and further remodeled in the 18th century to form the current Baroque palace building. The palace gardens, with their impressive defensive tower, are also worth a visit. Today, the palace is used by private and public institutions.

Laupen, a picturesque town in the canton of Bern, is located at the confluence of the Sense and Saane rivers. The different roof shapes, ridge heights and reddish-brown tiles give it a historical character. Strategically located, the impressive border fortress defied the attacks of the Habsburgs. If you like walking, you can also explore the old village center of Laupen.

The ensemble of old half-timbered houses, cobblestones, village fountains and churches makes the old town of Laupen a real gem. It is one of the most beautiful in the region and should be part of every cycling tour in this area.
