St. John's Church, beautiful to look at. Exterior with flood marks

The district boundaries of Schönborn and Hahnstätten meet on the Ergenstein. There used to be a lookout point here, but it is now overgrown. The Hahnstätter Heimat- und Verschönerungsverein has erected a shelter at this spot. Immediately next to the hut, a path leads to the boundary stone, which is about 150 meters away. The second highest mountain in the western Hintertaunus is crowned by a summit cross. Greetings can be left in the summit book. There is also a TP stone right next to the cross.

The Johanneskirche in Niederlahnstein was built around 1130-1136 and is one of the oldest gallery churches on the Middle Rhine. In 1906 it became a monastery church and was integrated into the construction of a tasting facility.

Also easy to reach on horseback, the path from Winden (with a few deposits) or halfway along the Gelbach valley from Dies / Eschenau is very beautiful.

Today (05/15/2023) the peak has grown again. The stone comes from Schönborn.

The Johanniskirche is a Catholic church in Lahnstein (Rhineland-Palatinate). The late Romanesque basilica, the current building of which was erected in the 12th century, is located with the attached former St. John's monastery of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary not far from the mouth of the Lahn in the Rhine and the private Johannes-Gymnasium Lahnstein in the district of Niederlahnstein.
