Approaching the ruins from Fleschützen, it was quite unsatisfying. Access to the inner castle is blocked, and the surrounding walls are overgrown. It's impossible to get a clear view. The ruins are apparently neglected and have been left to their natural state. The sign also suggests this. A shame.

Everyone has different tastes. The cake is delicious and the view is great. I live in Kempten and have crossed the cafe off my list because it is very crowded. If necessary, only during the week and outside of holiday season. The many flies from the cowshed are also annoying when you can sit outside. You can eat delicious food in peace and quiet at the Krone in Stein and in the Sonne in Niedersonthofen.

There is not much left of Rettenberg Castle and at the back there is a 30m vertical drop down the mountain. Keep an eye on your children.

Fantastically located ruin with a great view towards Oberstdorf. It's worth stopping off at the castle cafe. Nice to combine with a walk through the Werdensteiner Moos.

A short afternoon walk to the castle ruins in Burgberg. The climb is worth it just because of the beautiful view. Unobstructed views of the Oberstdorf mountains, the Hörnergruppe near Bolsterlang, Immenstadt and of course Burgberg. When I asked for directions, I was told...after the dung heap on the right...there couldn't be a better description! I laughed heartily and so did my informant! Two benches invite you to linger and it's really worth a walk!

The Burg-Cafe is highly recommended...the Kaiserschmarrn was top notch! We were lucky and got a place even without a reservation.

The trails are sometimes very adventurous, but in a very beautiful area. It is safer to bike in dry weather. Unfortunately, a lot of trees block the trail, so you have to lift the bike more than you can ride.

The ruins of the Wolkenberg stand on a hill with a very steep incline. Is very interesting and the masonry is protected by subsequently built over roofs. There is also seating to linger.

Possible start/finish point from Heinrichweg. First a great knight's path and then the castle ruins. When the flag is hoisted, you can visit the ruins. A great experience for small and large knights.
