Aisne departementin Bouconville-Vauclairin lähellä sijaitseva Vauclairin luostari perustettiin vuonna 1134 Clairvaux'n Bernhardin toimesta sisterssiläisenä luostarina. Keskiajalla siitä kehittyi merkittävä luostarikokonaisuus; erityisesti 1200-luvulla sitä laajennettiin voimakkaasti. Ensimmäisen maailmansodan aikana Vauclair sijaitsi välittömästi Chemin des Damesin taistelualueella, ja vuonna 1917 tykistötuli tuhosi sen lähes täysin. Nykyään näkyvissä olevia raunioita on tutkittu arkeologisesti, kaivettu esiin ja osittain kunnostettu 1960-luvulta lähtien. Välittömästi raunioiden vieressä sijaitsee nykyään noin 400 lajia käsittävä rohdoskasvipuutarha ja säilytyshedelmäpuutarha. Tämä verger conservatoire säilyttää vanhoja alueellisia omena- ja päärynälajikkeita; ranskalaisen puutarhaliiton mukaan siellä on edustettuna noin 84 erilaista lajiketta. Luostarinraunioiden ohella kompleksi muistuttaa siten paitsi sisterssiläisten historiaa, myös heidän tiivistä yhteyttään maanviljelyn, puutarhanhoidon ja kasvitieteen välillä.

Ailette Lake is a haven of tranquility surrounded by greenery. Its calm and clear waters invite you to relax, whether for a stroll along the lake, a canoe trip or a picnic break. The preserved natural setting offers magnificent views of the surrounding wooded hills and the developed beaches.

A remarkable remnant of what was once a large and important abbey. Caesar, Napoleon and German troops are said to have passed through this area during the First World War.

This abbey, which was founded in 1134 by St. Bernard, was severely damaged in a bombardment in 1917. The best preserved buildings are the pantry, the refectory of the lay brothers, the chapter house and the monks' hall. The foundations of the abbey church and the inn are still visible. Next to the garden with medicinal plants there is an exhibition space. Surrounding it is the monastic forest of Vauvelair, which covers 1000 hectares.

The Grottes des Roches de l'Ermitage are natural and artificial caves dug by erosion in the limestone rock. You can explore the two largest caves, with a length of 21 m and 36 m respectively, or admire the impressive stack of blocks which forms a large shelter on the side of the valley. The site is also rich in history and legend, as it is said to be where the Irish monk Goban settled in the 7th century and performed many miraculous healings.
