Strictly speaking, the “Old Castle” in Rodalben is not a real castle. Rather, the rock massif made of red sandstone is a prehistoric refuge, which was naturally protected by rocks and a rampart.

From the Orlebrunnen to the Kuhfelsen the path is quite overgrown. In the first part with high grass, on the descent with nettles and blackberries. Long trousers recommended.

I couldn't see much of the castle

For me the highlight of the north-eastern part of the Felsenwanderweg. class rock formation. Two seating sets covered by rocks for all weather conditions and a well that unfortunately no longer carries water.
