The route through the Reintal Valley is the easiest way to the Zugspitze, but also one of the longest. It cleverly exploits the mountain's "weak spots" and approaches it in a wide arc: first from the north, then from the east, and finally – after a fantastic hike – from the south over steep scree and rocks, reaching the summit. The ascent begins with a bang: with the gigantic Partnach Gorge. It's a good idea to have your rain jacket handy for the foaming spray that crashes down the gloomy rock faces. After half an hour of looking and marveling, after a final tunnel, you suddenly step into the dazzling sunlight. The Partnach River becomes a lovely river again, rippling lazily along. Without any significant incline, the route continues from the gorge exit along wide paths and forest roads.
