The Thorwalder Walls form a long, narrow rocky ridge. The Große Reitsteig trail mostly runs above or along these rock faces and offers spectacular views into the Kirnitzsch Valley and to the Zschandstein rocks opposite.

There used to be the Thorwalder Gratweg, a ridge path that ran directly along the edge of the cliff. With over 2,500 steps and ladders, it was one of the most spectacular trails in Saxon Switzerland. Important: This path was officially closed in 1981 for nature conservation reasons. Today, it is largely overgrown or blocked by deadwood. Entering the path is considered an offense.

The path is wide enough throughout, but you should be careful and avoid slipping. Ducking under a rock for a moment is no problem.
