야고보의 길은 16세기 성벽의 이 문을 통해 중세 도시를 떠납니다. 통과하기 전 안쪽에는 384명의 병사를 수용할 수 있었던 같은 이름의 막사가 보입니다. 성벽에는 1885년에 철거된 생제르맹 문과 같은 다른 문들도 있었습니다.

1538년부터 앙리 2세 통치 하에 나바랑스를 둘러싼 수 킬로미터에 달하는 난공불락의 성벽이 건설되었습니다.

12세기에 지어진 인상적인 로마네스크 양식의 교회로, 사도 성 야고보에게 헌정되었습니다. 이 교회는 혁명 때까지 운영되었던 베네딕토회 수도원 단지의 일부였습니다. 1793년 건물 매각 후 교회는 쇠퇴할 위험에 처했으며 1860년부터 복원되었습니다. 1970년과 2016-2017년에도 복원 및 개선 작업이 이루어졌습니다.

The name of the highlight and the accompanying photo don't seem to fit together, as the image shows "Monument aux Mortes," like those erected in many places to commemorate the victims of war. However, I can't find the odometer to Compostela, as suggested in the name, in the photo.

In Christian theology, he is the voice of one crying in the wilderness prophesied in the Old Testament book of Isaiah: "A voice calls out: 'In the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God!'" (Lutheran Bible). John is the son of Zechariah and Elizabeth, who was visited by the Blessed Virgin Mary when she learned from the Archangel Gabriel that she herself would give birth to Jesus Christ, and her—until then childless—relative was still pregnant in old age. The feast day of Saint John the Baptist in the calendar of saints is June 24.

Nice shady rest area in the forest and on the Camino about 5 km before Navarrenx.

The beautiful, large church, restored in the early 1990s, was built in the mid-16th century. It once served as a Protestant temple until it regained its Catholic vocation in the first half of the 17th century.
