Not much of a swimming place, but we did it anyway. 😎 OK, OK... We dipped in, and enjoyed the cold water for a few minutes. There simply isn't enough water for any serious swimming here. On a positive side: drinking water, nice rest places made of wood, shadows, and a meadow where it's even possible to sleep in a tent overnight.

The pioneer footbridge is part of the forest nature trail in the Dobersberg Nature Park. Over a total of around one and a half kilometers you will learn everything about the Thayatal habitat on this informative educational trail.

As one of 1,600 natural monuments in Lower Austria, the Paulstein is located directly on the Thaya and offers you not only a beautiful view, but also wonderful nature all around.

The Thayatal Vitalbad in Raabs an der Thaya combines bathing world and sauna world as a family pool with herbal spa. The sauna area with 4 saunas is highly recommended.

A station on the Raabs culture trail. Not an exciting location, but a nice story. Right next to the Raabs church, which is well worth seeing. Here on March 17, 1806 the first burglary of the later notorious robber captain Johann Georg Grasel took place. The son of a knacker made a living from theft, robbery, fraud and receiving stolen goods, gathering a gang of around 60 members around him, which earned him the reputation of a feared "robber captain" in Lower Austria and southern Moravia. In 1815 he was captured in Mörtersdorf near Horn and later executed in Vienna. In folk tradition, he was posthumously stylized without any real basis as a noble robber who - like Robin Hood - stole from the rich and gave gifts to the poor. This is what feeds the modern tourist marketing of Grasel. The name Grasel is the origin of the Czech expression grázl (for crooks).
