The cable suspension bridge over the Argen river spans the Argen between Kressbronn, district of Gohren, and Langenargen. It was built under the Württemberg King Wilhelm II between 1896 and 1897. It was the first suspension bridge in Germany with wire cables. Today it is no longer used for vehicle traffic, only for bicycles and pedestrians. A great photo opportunity in all seasons.

Although lying on the (quiet) district road, it is a beautiful place with a view of the Schleinsee estate with the court chapel and the private Schleinsee. There are also benches above the farm near the water reservoir with a great view of Lake Schlein and Lake Constance, including the Säntis massif.

“The magnificent ruins of Montfort located on a promontory -, the most beautiful I've ever seen." This is how Annette von Droste-Hülshoff describes the ruins of Montfort in one of her letters, but they were demolished in 1861 in favor of a “fairytale castle”. Montfort Castle, built in Moorish style in 1866, is Langenargen's magnificent landmark. Located on a small peninsula in the lake, today it is a place to dream, celebrate, dine and enjoy.
