The current church is built in the neoclassical style and features stone and brick walls, plastered and painted yellow. Entrances are located in the middle of the north and south sides of the nave, and on the west side through the tower. To the east of the church is a circular chancel, which houses the sacristy. The church tower has an open, white-painted wooden lantern crowned by a gilded cross. The church's roof was originally covered with iron sheets. In 1970, the rusted sheets were replaced with painted aluminum sheets. This roofing material was completely new for churches, so Rumskulla Church became an experimental church. Rumskulla Church is a typical Swedish church. It is located at the foot of the climb toward Gibberyd, where Katthult Farm is located.
